Our Story

Spirit of the Rhine. Born in Cincinnati. Crafted with spirit since 2013.

Where We Come From

Our name translates to “Spirit of the Rhine,” a nod to our home in Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine Brewery District. Our brewery sits inside the skeleton of a pre-Prohibition bottling plant, surrounded by a neighborhood built on beer long before we got here. Everything we produce is truly crafted with spirit. We believe in the power of craft to bring people together, spark ideas, and build a lasting community.

Our Passion Shines Through

Our spirit shows up in the beers we make and the people around us. We push the boundaries of flavor and expectation, spread our beverages to thirsty craft fans, and stay true to our mission of independence.

Not Just Beer Anymore

Rhinegeist has brought our expertise for creating fantastic liquid beyond just beer. We now produce award-winning vodka sodas and beverages with more coming.

Quality

Quality is first philosophy at Rhinegeist. Our lab and sensory teams test everything before it leaves the building—if it’s not right, it doesn’t ship. If you ever have an issue with a Rhinegeist product, email our team and we will sort it out.

Independence

We’re independently owned. No parent company, no outside investors. That independence is central to who we are, and we plan to keep it that way.

Sustainability

We eliminate and divert waste wherever possible. That includes plastic grain bags, aluminum, scrap metal, cardboard, LDPE film, spent grain, and yeast. We track our waste, energy, and water usage, run regular audits, and look for ways to improve every year. It’s ongoing work, not a finish line.

Everyone’s Welcome

We do not tolerate discrimination based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or anything else that makes us who we are. We welcome all. Through our Beer for Humans program, we partner with roughly 300 local organizations each year through donations, pint nights, volunteer hours, and cause-based beers.
