Skip is a Summer IPA. What makes Skip a great choice for the hot summer months?

With a restrained ABV and perfect balance between malt and hops, Skip is crisp and refreshing, making it an excellent choice when you need to cool down on a hot summer day.

Why is it called Skip?

Skip is the alternate persona of Skipper, the captain who’s steering the ship towards warmer temperatures. Also, skip is a fun word to say!

What are the notable characteristics of this beer?

Both the ABV and bitterness in Skip are turned down a few notches, allowing the hop aroma and flavor to dominate the profile. This balance between sweetness and bitterness also makes for an incredibly drinkable and refreshing IPA.

Talk about the hop bill a little bit (Citra Cryo, Centennial, Strata, Erebus) and how they all come together in Skip.

Centennial is a beloved, traditional West Coast Hop that’s been used for decades to impart citrus notes. Strata is a fairly new strain that brings layers of fruit flavors- from berry to tropical- and can be used for both bittering and dry hopping. Citra Cryo is fairly new to the market, and uses a cryogenic process that separates the desirable part of a hop cone from the rest of the plant. This creates a hop product that’s 100% natural hops, but contains a level of hop oils that can’t be reached on the bine. This allows a brewer to ramp up the intensity of hop derived flavors without introducing any unpleasant vegetal notes.

Skip also features Erebus hops, an exciting new varietal named after the Greek God of Darkness who was born from Chaos. This hop not only features high total oils, it contains a high level of geraniol, a hop oil not typically found in high levels in American hops. Geraniol is common in many flowers, and imparts a fresh, bright, floral character that melds wonderfully with Skip’s Summer IPA profile.

What makes you want to drink this beer?

The combination of Citra Cryo and Erebus makes for a truly unique flavor profile. And with an ABV of 5.0%, Skip can help you weather the warmer temperatures on those long, summer nights.
