Straight to the point. There is a ton of hops in this puppy. 13 unique hops to be exact. Tell us about what to expect from such a diverse hop bill.

If a tropical or citrus fruit exists, you can probably find it in this beer’s aroma and flavor. We chose hops that are boldly fruit forward, and locked in the recipe by brewing a series of test batches to fine-tune the combo that works best together. The result is a beer that bursts from the glass with aromas of dank passionfruit, fresh citrus zest, and juicy guava. The tropical and citrus notes are deep and complex, flowing from dank to juicy as you bring the glass up for a sip.

What are the notable characteristics of this beer?

Though this is an extremely hop forward West Coast IPA, Brewer’s Dozen has a crisp, clean bitterness that makes for a refreshingly drinkable beer. The tropical punch and citrus notes dominate both the aroma and flavor, drawing you back after every drink.

What makes you want to drink this beer?

It’s our anniversary! What better way to celebrate than with a glass of a dank, hoppy West Coast IPA, a style we’ve loved brewing since the day we opened our taproom and poured the first pints of Truth.

They say 13 is an unlucky number. Any truth to that?

While I’m not particularly superstitious, about 10% of the US population is afraid of the number 13. Taking it a step further, fear of Friday the 13th itself is known as paraskevidekatriaphobia, and causes an estimated $800 million of losses annually. Here at Rhinegeist, though, we consider ourselves lucky to be celebrating 13th years of brewing and pouring beer for our friends, family and community.

Appearance: Light gold with great clarity and thick, fluffy white foam.

Aroma: The aroma is absolutely loaded with hop derived notes of dank passionfruit, fresh citrus zest, and juicy guava, which emerge from a bouquet of tropical and citrus punch.

Taste: Hoppy fruit notes are matched by clean, medium bitterness and just a hint of malty sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin with medium carbonation and a crisp, bitter finish that lingers with tropical and citrus punch.

Overall: Brewer’s Dozen is a West Coast IPA that’s loaded with hop-derived aromas of dank passionfruit, fresh citrus zest, and juicy guava. The perfect level of balancing bitterness is met with hints of crackery malt, allowing for a hop-forward finish that draws you in for another sip.
