Beverly Pils (West Coast Pilsner)

This West Coast Pilsner is as crispy as they come. Bright, citrusy hops give way to a balanced, malt profile and a finish as dry and clear as a sunny SoCal sky. Sing it with us:

The beers in this pack utilize a combination of new hop varietals, novel brewing techniques, and exciting innovations in yeast. Beverly Pils is a West Coast Pilsner, which means it’s dry-hopped with American hops grown in the PNW, and also uses some of the exciting new hop products developed over the past decade.

Can you give a little background on Beverly Pils?

While the majority of people would associate hops with ales, hoppy lagers have existed for centuries. Pilsner, be it German or Czech, is the most well known, and is beloved for its ability to deliver delicious hop-derived flavors in a light, crisp beer. Our experiments with hops aren’t limited to ales either, with Beverly Pils being the most recent result. Bright, citrusy hops with a light, crispy lager base? That’s what I want to drink!

Beverly Pils is a “West Coast Pilsner.” Talk a little bit about the style.

Italian Pilsner is a popular style right now, characterized by a light lager base that’s dry-hopped, usually with European varietals. Beverly Pils is an American take on this style, utilizing West Coast hops like Citra and Cascade, to name a few.

What are the notable characteristics of this beer?

Along with some heavy-hitting West Coast varietals, there’s also a blend of both Cryo and Lupomax– products which contain a higher ratio of hop oil to vegetal material than usual. This leads to a beer with more hop flavor and less unpleasant, astringent plant matter.
