Ghost NA is our non-alcoholic line. Can you talk a little bit about the genesis of this project?
Non-alcoholic beer has grown in popularity in recent years. The obvious reason is that people are choosing to decrease their alcohol intake, but the development of processes and technologies that greatly increased the quality of NA beer has facilitated this rise in popularity. Breweries can now produce NA beers that are nearly indistinguishable from their alcoholic counterparts, without any of the cloying sweetness and heavy body that previously plagued nonalc brews.
Ghost Pils is a non-alcoholic Pilsner. What makes a pilsner a pilsner?
The most important ingredient in this style of beer is Pilsner malt, a light, crisp malt that was developed in the 19th century in the city of Pilsen. European hops are used to impart balancing bitterness, while also contributing a floral aroma that perfectly complements the mild cracker-like flavor derived from the Pilsner malt.
What are the notable characteristics of Ghost Pils?
Hints of sweet malt are perfectly balanced by floral German hops, creating an extremely drinkable NA brew. The body is light and crisp, perfectly mimicking a full-alcohol Pilsner, allowing for a quick, refreshing finish.
What makes you want to drink Ghost Pils?
When I want to have a crisp, refreshing pilsner but the occasion isn’t quite right for alcohol; perhaps after a workout, a night where I’m the designated driver, or when I’m just plain thirsty!
What are some other non-alc pilsners that you really enjoy?
Go Brewing Sunbeam Pilsner and Partake Pils are both excellent.
