Stryker (Triple IPA)

Stryker (10.7% | 100+ IBU) has returned to overtake your senses with its citrusy hop punch. This Triple IPA is big, balanced, and comes straight from the mastermind of our brewer, Aaron Stryker. Our Head Brewer, Jim Matt, handed over the reigns for this review as Aaron breaks down his own brew.

Malts:  Pale Ale Malt, Vienna, Flaked Rye

Hops: Bravo, Galaxy, Amarillo and Citra

What's the story behind your Triple IPA, Stryker?

Back in 2014 I was offered a chance to create a recipe for a one-off beer. I suggested a roggenbier. That was quickly typecast as a hipster brewer beer and turned down. I knew we loved our hops and I've been known in the past to make big and robust IPAs, so I went back to my roots and made a huge triple IPA with more hops than I thought was even logical.

What makes a Triple IPA different?

They are still balanced beers but with a tad higher ABV and IBU. Go big or go home.

What are the notable characteristics of this beer?

It’s surprisingly balanced and super drinkable.

Appearance: Slightly hazy, dark orange with a nice white head.

Smell: Lots of grapefruit with underlying peach.

Taste: Balanced malt character with hop bitterness and citrus flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation and a little alcohol warmth.

Overall: Hops = Good

What foods would pair well with Stryker?
