Rhinegeist in the News: GABF Silver Medal

This past weekend the Rhinegeist team headed out to Denver for an important annual ritual – the Great American Beer Festival.  It’s a fantastic weekend in a great beer city. We get to meet up with brewers from across the country (and hang with some of our hometown buddies, too) to learn about and discuss what’s going on in the beer world in other places.

This year turned out to be a special one (and not only because we saw Jeff Bridges in the Denver Airport), but because we brought home a Silver Medal at Great American Beer Festival for our Ink Imperial Stout, aged in Sherry Barrels in the Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Stout category (with 128 entries, one of the most competitive categories).

Our first medal at GABF, we are absolutely thrilled to bring this recognition and hardware home to Cincinnati. Head Brewer Jim Matt is ecstatic, “It was a total team effort. Teamwork makes the dream work. I look forward to this being a great learning experience; one that will continue to help us take it to the next level.”

After a wild and victorious adventure in Colorado, we’re happy to be back on home soil and back to the rhythm and beats of brewing, spinning, canning and making deliveries…with a little more fuel for high fives this week!

Look for more barrel aged beers coming out of Rhinegeist over the next year as we have been laying down a good amount of beer to rest in wood over the last two years…
