Cloud Harvest 07 (Copacabana) is the seventh iteration in our Unfiltered Juicy IPA Series. Just to refresh, will you talk about the rotational nature of this series.  What is up with the names?

All of the names reference a beautiful location, often a tropical beach. Since these beers are packed with juicy, fruity flavor, we thought it would be appropriate for the names to conjure images of rolling waves and warm sands. Copacabana is a beach in Rio de Janeiro that’s famous for its surfable waves and idyllic sunsets.

What makes Copacabana (CH07) stand out from the previous Cloud Harvest releases?

This beer features a few of the most exciting new hop varietals. Along with classic, citrusy favorites Columbus and Cascade, Copacabana also has Strata and Sabro. Strata adds aromas of dank cannabis, while Sabro is well known for the notes of pineapple and coconut it imparts on beer. The result is a brew that’s heavy in notes of cannabis and pineapple, with hints of citrus and coconut, backed by low bitterness and a juice-like body.

What makes you want to drink this beer?

The unique combination of hops creates a flavor profile that’s very tropical fruit-forward, which is then enhanced by the wheat and oats added to the grain bill. These grains create a slightly fuller body than barley alone does, which contributes to the juiciness of the beer.

What are some of your favorite recent IPAs that lean into a juicier, softer hop profile?

Bell’s Official Hazy IPA and Sierra Nevada’s Hazy Little Thing are both readily available. If you want a bit of a challenge, seek out anything by Monkish, Treehouse, or Trillium: you may have to put in some effort, but it will be well worth it.
