Every Vote Counts

Reviews are done by our Sensory Specialist Travis Houston, a Certified Cicerone and FoBAB judge.

We’re super excited to release Every Vote Counts (6.5%), a statewide beer collaboration to get more Ohioans voting. We teamed up with voteohio.gov to get folks registered by October 5.⁣

Over 30 breweries from across that state have tagged in to brew their own beer, but we’re looking for even more! The name and artwork are open to anyone to use, and breweries can use any recipe they like.

If you’re a brewery and would like to get involved, just head to everyvotecounts. If you’re outside Ohio, we want you to join us, too. All we ask is that you help people in your state register to vote. Breweries have deep ties to our communities, and we want to leverage those relationships to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.⁣

For Ohio residents, to register, request an absentee ballot, or update your information, head to VoteOhio.gov.⁣

Malts: Origin (OH) Pilsner, Wheat, Oats, Carafoam, Acidulated

Hops: Sabro, Cascade, Azacca, Columbus, Vic Secret

EVC is a collaborative project. Can you talk a little bit about the background? In collaboration with the Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, the purpose of this project is to encourage people to vote. We designed a label which has information about how to register to vote online (VOTEOHIO.GOV), that can be used by any participating brewery.

What are the notable characteristics of this beer? This beer is hazy and juicy, while still packing in some palette cleansing bitterness. Tangerine, orange zest, and juicy pineapple lead the aroma, and follow into your first sip. Medium bitterness balances out those sweet citrus flavors, while also allowing for a dry, clean finish. Citrusy orange lingers slightly, enhanced by medium-full body.

What makes you want to drink this beer? The massive citrus and tropical flavors in this beer draw you in, but never get to be overwhelming or cloying. Medium bitterness helps to balance those big fruit flavors, and also leads to a quick finish. Without any heavy, lingering sweet flavors, you’ll find yourself drawn to take another sip to keep those flavors going. Also, drinking one of these beers means supporting an Ohio brewery.

What are some other notable Juicy/Unfiltered IPAs? Stone’s Enjoy By IPA series are all heavily hopped and unfiltered. If you’re able to get your hands on it, Sip of Sunshine by Lawson’s Finest Liquids is an amazing beer. I’ll be seeking out as many versions of Every Vote Counts as I can. You can drink local while also helping to encourage others to have their voices heard.

What foods would pair well with EVC? This would go really well with hot wings as a palette cleanser.

Ideal glassware for EVC? A shaker pint glass
