Pure Fury (Pale Ale)
“What’s the meaning of this madness?” He turned, laughed and roared to the sky, “Two inches and three minutes of Pure Fury!” The thunder cracked. With his axe held high, his beard burst into flames and hops began to rain down from the sky.

Malts: Pale, Vienna, White Wheat, Carafoam
Hops: Cascade, Amarillo, Mosaic
Pure Fury is a longtime in-house favorite, emerging after a two-year hiatus. What’s so special about this beer?
This beer is loaded with some fan-favorite hops. Cascade is a classic American varietal, and imparts citrusy grapefruit notes. Mosaic and Amarillo both expand on those citrus notes, adding dank aromas of orange and lemon. But even with all those hops, this is still a true pale ale, with hints of crackery malt balancing out all those hop flavors. The bitterness is also fairly restrained, allowing that malt character to shine in the finish.
What are some of your go-to Pale Ales?
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the original, and is still delicious. Zombie Dust from 3Floyd’s, and Psuedo Sue from Toppling Goliath are also both great beers.
What are the notable characteristics of this beer?
Visually, this is a beautiful beer, light gold in color with excellent clarity. Hops really burst from the glass, and just scream West Coast. My favorite aspect of this beer is the balance, which gives it a very clean and pleasant finish. I find myself drawn to another drink… until glass is empty.
Appearance: Light gold, great clarity, with a fluffy white head
Aroma: Dank grapefruit, resinous pine, and orange peel
Taste: Moderate bitterness is well balanced by mild sweetness
Mouthfeel: Thin and refreshing, with a very clean finish
Overall: Hop forward but well balanced, this Pale Ale really showcases some amazing American varietals.
What foods would pair well with Pure Fury?
Pale Ales are my go-to with most food, so I’d drink this with just about anything. With that said, this would be a great compliment to a burger and fries.
